CATARACT BLINDNESS IN INDIA – A PUBLIC HEALTH CRISIS

The crux of the problem is a shortage of ophthalmologists who can perform cataract-removal surgery in the areas where they are needed most.
Cataract blindness in India has its own nuances and the Indian government has made significant headway in dealing with this, yet the disparity of care in some areas deprives people of needed care. The facts are staggering.
THE SOLUTION – SIMULATION-BASED TRAINING

The centerpiece of our mission to eliminate cataract blindness is a simulation-based training program focused on training ophthalmologists to become Manual Small Incision Cataract Surgery specialists.
To make the large-scale training of cataract surgeons feasible, HelpMeSee has developed an innovative set of courses that use a Simulator for surgery skills practice.
WHY MANUAL SMALL INCISION CATARACT SURGERY?

Manual Small Incision Cataract Surgery is a safe, cost-effective and efficient cataract removal procedure especially suited for areas of India where resources may be lacking.
